Hanover 2, Hollis Brookline 1
Hollis, N.H.
Bryn Kable scored on a corner kick in the first half to give Hanover the early lead. Clare Gardner picked up an assist. Mahler Meyerrose made three saves.
Wagner’s goal seemed to wake Hollis Brookline up, said Hanover head coach Doug Kennedy, whose team gave up a penalty kick 17 minutes into the half to help the Cavaliers (13-3-0) cut the deficit to one.
“We were under siege in the last 15 or 16 minutes,” Kennedy said.
Hanover (11-4-1) suffered a 1-0 loss to Hollis Brookline in its regular-season finale on Oct. 21. But with the team firing on all cylinders and the top-seeded team out of the picture, Kennedy likes his team’s chances going forward.
“We’ve been strong all year,” he said. “All of our losses have been against strong teams.”
